Now, 3 years later I am so blessed to have gone through these first few years of our life with Garrett standing by my side, always supportive and offering a shoulder to cry on...

Thanks for putting *this* smile on my face every single day.

I love you Garrett, Happy Anniversary

Umm, it's HOT in our neck of the woods...

Photobucket
You won't find me complaining though because my very sweet in-laws gave me and AC unit for our bedroom as a birthday gift this year! Now I'm trying to figure out ways to cool down the rest of my non-AC house... Any tips?!

Marcie's Wedding Weekend

I'm back and exhausted. But had a fantastic time in Birmingham for Marcie and Justin's Wedding weekend! *Warning LOTS of pictures ahead*

On Friday, we headed to Saint Mark UMC for the Rehearsal then it was off to The Club for a delicious steak and shrimp dinner and beautiful views of the Birmingham skyline. Marcie put together a wonderful and hilarious slide show {definitely got me back for my previous post}!

Saturday morning came early. Lindsey and I got our hair done and headed over to Marcie's Mom's house for brunch with all of her Bridesmaids and close friends. We spent the day getting dressed, practicing the Girlfriend Dance and of course laughing and eating! Her photographer was the best and she even learned the Girlfriend dance with us!

Marcie gave all her Bridesmaids a robe with each of our initials monogrammed on the front.

From there we headed to the Church just in time for pictures. And before we knew it, it was time for the Ceremony. The Ceremony was sweet and it was all Marcie could do to keep her eyes dry and not loose it which made the ceremony even that much more touching to everyone in the Church. Now it was time to partay!! We headed downtown to B&A Warehouse. It was a fabulous time! If you know Marcie, you know she is very picky with what she eats {See: Chicken fingers and diet mt dew} and so is Justin. So Marcie came up with an absolutely brilliant idea of doing a sort of 'play on' to go food. She decided to have a Fried Rice and Macaroni bar with all the fixings, a mini steak sandwich bar, and an Asian bar complete with mini to go boxes with chop sticks! I mean if that's not original, I don't know what is?!

Congrats to The Morris'! They are off to Hawaii for 10 days....

Sweet Home Alabama...

Photobucket
I'm leaving on a red eye flight tonight for a few days in sweet home Alabama (!!) for Marcie's Wedding! I am SO excited for this weekend as well as some down time with my family (see: laying by the pool and relaxing). I'm also super excited to stay at my sisters new house for the first time on Friday night!

Marcie's going to kill me for this. But here is a picture from our High School graduation breakfast! (From left: Me, Marcie, Rachel, and Lindsey)

And here we are at Lindsey's Wedding in May. Oh how we have all changed since 2001.

I'll leave you with a little useless Alabama info... Did you know...
  • Workers in Alabama built the first rocket to put humans on the moon?
  • The first electric trolley streetcars in the US began operating in 1866 in Montgomery?
  • Alabama is the only state with all major natural resources needed to make iron and steel?
  • Alabama is the Peanut Capital of the World? Fifty percent of all the peanuts produced in the U.S. are grown within 100 miles of Dothan, Alabama.
...Well now you know!

Adventures in Gardening :: Photo Update

Below is an update in photos of our garden! We are thoroughly enjoying having fresh veggies in our backyard. Click here for Phase 1 and Phase 2 of our Adventures in Gardening and to see how much it's changed!

Here is our garden to date. We harvested most of the lettuce and Garrett planted lots of peppers and two more tomato plants where the lettuce used to be. {please excuse the lawn chairs, we have been frequently enjoying lounging, napping and reading on these hot summer days!}

Tomatoes a getting closer!

Weekend Update

Our weekend was spent at home, relaxing and really just catching up on 'life'. It was nice to have a weekend at home since we have been out of town so much. Lately, I've been wanting to try out new recipes with fresh veggies from our garden. We have an excess of zucchini and squash so I found a recipe for Zucchini Bread that I just had to try...

Zucchini Bread

3 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup oil
3 T maple flavoring
2 cups zucchini, shredded
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 T baking powder
2 t baking soda
1 t salt

Beat eggs; add sugars, oil, flavoring, and zucchini. add remaining ingredients and mix. pour into two regular loaf pans coated with cooking spray. bake at 350 for an hour.
Photobucket
Ummm, can we say delicious! I baked this bread on Saturday and it is nearly gone.. definitely a hit and approved by Garrett, neighbors and friends!!

I even got a 5 mile run in on Saturday morning while Garrett was picking up his packet for the Seafair Triathalon. He and his training buddy Mike signed up for the race last minute. They are training for the Lake Stevens 70.3 Half Ironman (which is August 16th) and thought this race would give them some more good race day experience. Well they both did amazing Garrett placed 15th out of 121 in his age division and Mike placed 11th out of 101 in his age division. Not too shabby if you ask me!! Way to go guys!

It was a beautiful morning at Seward Park, enjoy the photos!

Summer Wedding Fever

So far this summer, Garrett and I have gone to 3 weddings and we've got 4 more to go! It's craziness in the Kelly household but I love all things wedding!

The first wedding we attended was for a family friend that Garrett and Melissa grew up with. It was absolutely beautiful - the Wedding, the Bride, and they couldn't have picked a more perfect outdoor venue. Garrett was extremely excited to see his best bud Ky, I posted some pictures in my previous post from Lindsay and Jesse's Wedding. One of my favorite things about this wedding was that they served the father of the bride, Rob's Home Brew Beer at the reception and the wedding favors were a bottle of beer (or root beer) and the label said "Free Beer" with a picture of the newlyweds whose last name is Free!! Here is a picture from their beautiful ceremony:

Photobucket
Just gorgeous! I loved that each of the bridesmaids dresses {and groomsmen ties} were different shades of Pink - so cute and very original!

On the 4th of July, Garrett and I headed up to La Connor, WA (famous for its tulip fields in the spring) to celebrate Jeff and Saresa's Wedding. Garrett and Jeff went to high school together. Their wedding was absolutely gorgeous and they couldn't have had a more perfect day for an outdoor ceremony! My favorite part of their wedding was right before the officiant introduced them as Mr. and Mrs. they turned their backs to the crowd and put on sunglasses that they had given each other as a wedding gift then turned around and were introduced as Mr. and Mrs. It was super cute! They're going to need those sunglasses in Fiji on their honeymoon!

Last weekend, we headed to Yakima to celebrate Ty and Katie's big day. You can read their story here. Isn't it amazing? They are truly meant to be together! It was a huge event. I mean we're talking about 500 people (!!!) - for sure the largest wedding Garrett and I have ever attended (and probably will ever attend)! While Ty and Katie we're lighting the unity candle, a friend sang "To Make You Feel My Love" which holds a very special place in my heart since Garrett and I had our first dance to this song at our wedding! :) All in all, the wedding was a blast and we danced the night away!

Summer snack

This summer I have found myself snacking on this delicious treat more and more. The little wedges are perfect to throw in my lunch bag with some crackers or to snack on when I get home. I've also heard they are great on bagels. AND each of these little wedges only have 35 calories.
