Lindsey's visit!
I am so glad Lindsey was able to come visit, we had such an amazing weekend spending time together! The weather was absolutely gorgeous the whole time she was here.
On Friday, we had appointments to look at Bridesmaids dresses at The Bridal Garden in Kirkland and La Belle Elaines in downtown Seattle right under the Space Needle.. they were both very successful and a blast! In between appointments, I took Linds to a couple of her favorite Seattle stores for some shopping. Then we went home and walked to a cute little Mexican restaurant in our neighborhood for dinner and margarita's!

On Saturday we got the finishing touches for our Halloween costumes, shopped at H&M for a couple hours, then we headed to Woodinville to see Melissa and help her with the move. I know Lindsey was glad she got to see Melis! We came home and got dressed up for the Halloween party (new post below).

On Sunday Garrett, Lindsey and I met Shane and Steph for a delicious brunch at The Rusty Pelican. After that Lindsey wanted to take a ferry ride since it is the only thing that she has yet to do in Seattle, so we walked onto the Seattle to Bainbridge Island Ferry and took in the beautiful Seattle skyline!

On Sunday evening we met up with some friends from Auburn, April and Jeff - they moved out here a couple of years ago too - at The Crab Pot for dinner. It was such a fun place to eat, they bring out your food in a big bowl and dump it on the table and give you bibs and a mallet. We all ordered the same thing - Dungeness crab, snow crab, shrimp, clams and mussels, corn on the cobb and red potatoes! It was SO yummy and we were all beyond stuffed!

Halloween Party
For the past couple of years, our friends Mike and Erin have hosted a Halloween/Birthday Party at Kells Irish Pub in Seattle and this year, since Lindsey was in town, we decided to go all out for the party! Lindsey and I dressed up as flappers. My sweet, creative Mom designed our costumes and, I must say, they turned out pretty fabulous! Garrett dressed up as Jackie Moon from the movie Semi-Pro with Will Ferrell and was hilarious the whole night! It was so much fun dressing up and wearing wigs... all of our costumes were a huge hit at the party! Lindsey and I met the owner of Kells who fell in love with Lindsey's GREEN costume.. and said that she has GOT to come back and wear it for St. Patricks day! Most of our friends - the one's that I hang out with alot - were able to tell me and Lindsey apart!

I had to share...
The other day after work I caught the end of an Oprah episode. I'm not sure which one but I believe she was interviewing Maya Angelo about her new book and Oprah said something that really stuck out to me. It went something like this:
Life isn't about what happens to you, it's about how you handle what happens to you.
Nothing profound, but it totally made sense and clicked when I heard it.
Then, this morning my Dad forwarded me this great email entitled The "Scary Times" Success Manual. One of the strategies was basically the same as the Oprah quote:
Life isn't about what happens to you, it's about how you handle what happens to you.
Nothing profound, but it totally made sense and clicked when I heard it.
Then, this morning my Dad forwarded me this great email entitled The "Scary Times" Success Manual. One of the strategies was basically the same as the Oprah quote:
8. Forget about events, focus on your responses.
When things are going well, many people think they are actually in control of events. That’s why they feel so defeated and depressed when things turn bad. They think they’ve lost some fundamental ability. The most consistently successful people in the world know they can’t control events — but continually work toward greater control over their creative responses to events. Any period when things are uncertain is an excellent time to focus all of your attention and energies on being creatively responsive to all of the unpredictable events that lie ahead.
I had to share this because it keeps appearing in my life and I feel that anyone can relate to this quote, especially in this scary, unpredictable economy.10.03.2008
Ladies night at the theatre
Last night, 11 amazing ladies got together to see Phantom of the Opera at The Paramount Theatre (for my out of state readers - if you plan on visiting Seattle I recommend seeing a Broadway show there because it is an amazing theatre!). We had a such fabulous time. We met for happy hour and apps at Union Square Grill then walked to the Paramount from there.

Phantom was great. I really enjoyed the talent of the performers.. how do those people bust out such high notes and make it sound beautiful at the same time??!! I went home and tried to get Garrett to sing a duet with me.. but he wasn't having it! Ha! I'm glad I saw it in October because the special effects were kind of spooky. Rent and Mama Mia are still my all time favorite musicals though!
Thanks Em for organizing! I'm thinking we should make this a monthly/bimonthly get together.. Spring Awakening is coming up next!
